Cuba -Que Bola!
Cuba Que Bola is a book that was published in 1994 and the images were taken during a particularly difficult time in Cuba that started in 1992. The socialist block in Europe had just collapsed and 80% of Cuba's imports disappeared overnight. Severe austerity measures were introduced and referred to as 'The Special Period'. I was interested in the spirit and resilience with which Cubans faced not just their uncertain future but also the very real lack of food and all other goods in the present.
